UT Dallas VPN services allow users to remotely connect to the campus network in order to access on-premise resources. In order to utilize VPN services, you must first be enrolled for NetID plus. Being on-campus or connected to the UT Dallas VPN is required for some resources, although many users will not need the VPN to work remotely. Current - VPN Documentation Cisco AnyConnect You need to use the Cisco AnyConnect software to access the campus VPN service.
For remote access to many CADE/CoE IT services or systems, you need to use the Campus VPN (Virtual Private Network) with a registered uNID.
NOTE: If you are not associated with the College of Engineering, this is NOT FOR YOU. Also, accessing the CADE Linux or Engman Windows environments remotely does NOT require a VPN connection.
1. To register your uNID, send an e-mail to support@coe.utah.edu and describe your need for Campus VPN access as a ‘student’, ‘staff’ or for ‘researcher/professor’, and provide your name and UNID. We will reply letting you know it’s ready for use.

2. While the WebVPN is available, most services/software require and we recommend you install the Cisco AnyConnect client, available from our Downloads page www.cade.utah.edu/downloads, OSL or via the WebVPN after sign-in.

3. After you receive a response that your UNID has been added, you must set the connection server as ‘vpnaccess.utah.edu’ and the Username format:
Students: u#######@student.coe.utah.edu
Staff: u#######@staff.coe.utah.edu

Use your CIS password in the ‘password’ field.
For the ‘second password’, you will also need the Duo App on your smartphone or mobile device as campus requires 2 Factor Authentication(2FA) for VPN service. In the field, type ‘push’ and you’ll receive the Duo prompt for approval (similar to the ‘Send Me A Push’ used in web apps). Alternatively, open the Duo App on your device and generate the ‘second password’ by clicking on the UofU banner/down-arrow- enter the 6-digit #.
